✅ Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be applying for a PhD / Postgraduate Research (PGR) program
  • Postgraduate Taught (PGT) candidates are not eligible
  • Must have completed or be near completion of a Master’s degree in a relevant field (International Development, Political Science, Environmental Studies, Geography, Sociology, Anthropology, Law, or related)
  • Must have a strong academic record with research potential
  • Must show interest in qualitative, interpretive, or ethnographic research methods
  • Fully funded studentship is open to Home (UK) applicants only (international applicants may apply but full funding is not guaranteed)
  • Must meet the English language requirements of King’s College London
  • Must be available to start in October 2026 and commit to full-time study for 3.5 years
  • Must be eligible to study in the UK (visa sponsorship may be available)
  • Preference for candidates with experience or strong understanding of extractive industries, energy transitions, or affected communities
